Different traits
Our scientists combine their knowledge and expertise with integrated technology platforms to gain competitive advantage over the second generation Traits.
Molecular Breeding Platform (MBP)
Our MBP can be used to monitor variation in DNA sequences within a given species with the help of molecular markers. This enables tracking of Desirable Traits as well as the introgression pattern in Breeding Programs. Further, such markers can be used to create new sources of genetic variation by introducing novel and favourable traits from various landraces and related species. Protection of varieties can be done by DNA fingerprinting with the use of molecular markers.
We provide research support for a wide variety of plant that include field crops and vegetables. OrrisLife has either developed its proprietary set of molecular markers that can be used for marker analyses or established optimised sets of publicly available markers.
Our DHP platform involves production of haploids followed by doubling of chromosomes in a very short period of time compared to conventional breeding. The resulting doubled haploids will be stable and include an array of Diverse Traits. This genetic variability within the population will help in the selection of a specific trait which can be introgressed further. This allows us to study new lines prior, with a better understanding of their ability to adapt to different kinds of stress before they are fully tested, developed and marketed.
